Traditional music and songs live at Rizokarpaso after 31 years!

 

At the occupied village of Rizokarpaso, the enclaved students and other Greek Cypriots who insist to stay at their homes under the continuing Turkish occupation, have participated in a concert with traditional songs by Nasia Trachonitou and the ANERADA music ensemble.

The concert was given on Friday 10 th June 2005, following the closing ceremony of the current academic year of the Rizokarpaso elementary school, Nasia has given pleasure and enjoyment to the 14 students of the pre elementary and the elementary school and also to their parents and dozens of  enclaved Greek Cypriots. The traditional music was spread to the village from the hill that the very old school is situated, as a sign of unification and freedom to the island.

It was an event to remember.It was an event which gives hope, that more and more live performances like this will continue to be given to a united Cyprus very soon.

 

July 2004

Nasia participated in the ceremonies "Sport and Culture for peace" which were organised by the Italina Embasy in Cyprus as part of ther celebartions for the Athens 2004 Olymbic games. Nasia took part as guest of honour i na concert which took place at Larnaca on 20th July, with three traditional songs from Cyprus accompanied by the Italian group "Sulutumana".

 

April 2004

Concert with traditional songs at the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CYBC).

The concert was part of the celebrations for the accession of Cyprus to the European Union and for the 50th anniversary of CYBC. Nasia was selected by the Hungarian state broadcasting station to represent Cyprus in a program with traditional music from all 10 countries to join EU by 1st of May. The concert was playbacked on 1st of May.

1st May 2004

Official celebrations for the accession of Cyprus to the European Union.

Nasia participated in a concert at Eleftherias square in Nicosia, with the Cyprus state Orchesta.Nasia performed three traditional songs arranged by Efthimios Papadopoulos.

August 2003

Nasia participates in the CD release of Stelios Papadopoulos "Dances and songs from my country" 

The CD includes traditional dances nad songs from Cyprus with Stelios Papadopoulos, a traditioanal violin performer, accompanied by his two sons on the lute and the percussion, Efthymios and Aristos.

Nasia performs three songs.

March 2004

Nasia participates in the CD release of Andreas Orfanides "Fillokarkia". The Cd consists of 13 songs in the local dialque, with lyrics and music by Andreas Orfanides and arranging and production by Kipros Charalambous. In this Cd the following performers particiapated. Elena Patroklou, George Sarris, Kalliopi Spirou, Chara Pirta , Costas Charalambides, Elena Andreou and Andreas Varnava.

All artists dedicated this production to KENTHEA to support the movement against drugs. The income from sales will be given for this purpose. 

Nasia performs two songs.
